July is Parks and Recreation Month

Jul 22, 2024

For nearly 40 years, NRPA has led the celebration of Park and Recreation Month in July to promote building strong, vibrant and resilient communities through the power of parks and recreation. This month is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the more than 160,000 full-time park and recreation professionals — along with hundreds of thousands of part-time and seasonal workers and volunteers — who maintain our country’s local, state and community parks. Much more is available at www.nrpa.org/events/july/.

Earlier in July, NASPD President and CEO Lewis Ledford joined Madeline Wade with the Brumidi Group for multiple meetings in Congressional Members Offices on Capitol Hill in advocating for America’s State Parks, the benefits of LWCF and its stateside program, and more. It also included meetings with NPS staff and participation in a conference with the NRPA leadership board and business Council. It was important week of advocacy and engagement. Numerous other meetings were held by the NRPA team; NASORLO was represented by Eric Feldbaum of NH.
