Job Responsibilities
Cheraw State Park takes traditional recreational park activities to a new level of fun. The 18-hole, championship Cheraw State Park Golf Course winds its way through piney woodlands while maintaining and protecting the surrounding natural habitat of the park.
Cypress wetlands line Lake Juniper and can be explored by kayaks and canoes or via a boardwalk that runs along the lake. Try fishing from the boardwalk or by boat, or take time to explore other areas of Cheraw on the park’s extensive biking and hiking trails.
Job Purpose and Duties:
This position will manage specific park operations as directed by the park manager. In the absence of the park manager, the assistant park manager will assume responsibility for the operation of the park.
1) Assists with park administrative duties in accordance with department policy and procedures such as reservations, procurement methods, and requisitions and reports.
2) Assists with planning of long and short term maintenance projects. Directs and/or performs maintenance on grounds, buildings, and equipment. Provides required reports.
3) Effectively supervises and trains full-time and part-time staff as directed by the park manager.
4) Responsible for and assisting with the maintaining of park inventory of equipment, supplies, facilities, and retail items. Provides required reports.
5) Responsible for specific park operations and maintenance of swimming areas, retail sales, cabins, etc., as directed by park manager.
6) Performs duties relative to accepting revenues, their collection, accountability, and disposition.
7) Employee will be required to live in designated park housing to provide for security, safety and emergency response.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Park Management, or related field and three (3) years experience as a Park Ranger or an equivalent position.
Additional Requirements:
1) Ability to deal tactfully and cordially with the public. Working knowledge of most aspects of park operations and administration.
2) Must posses a valid South Carolina Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
One (1) year of supervisory experience.
