Virginia State Parks (VSP), a division of the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is recruiting for a Chief of Resource Management to help accomplish their mission to “conserve the natural, scenic, historic and cultural resources of the Commonwealth of Virginia and to provide recreational and educational opportunities consistent with good stewardship of these lands, water and facilities that leaves them unimpaired for future generations.”
The Chief of Resource Management provides oversight and direction for resource management within the division and serves on the Parks Leadership Team. This position provides strategic guidance, coordination, and oversight within the State Parks Division for natural and cultural resource management, land management, physical asset inventory and maintenance management, division planning efforts, and the collection and management of data related to natural and cultural resources and the built environment. Additionally, the person in this position provides for coordination of efforts across divisions related to natural and cultural resource management, real property, capital development and planning. This position develops annual and longer-term program objectives, prepares budget recommendations for the section as well as division asset management needs. Assists in developing legislative requests and administrative code changes.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong skillset in project management with knowledge of natural and cultural resource conservation and management, the built environment, and land-use planning and data management and an ability to navigate state and federal rules and regulations.
