Position is part of a new Resource Management Section within Virginia State Parks. Employee will work with this team to build asset and data management from the ground up and will help us to protect and manage over $1.2 billion of infrastructure within state parks. Virginia State Parks (VSP), a division of the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is recruiting for a Physical Resource Manager to help accomplish their mission to “conserve the natural, scenic, historic and cultural resources of the Commonwealth of Virginia and to provide recreational and educational opportunities consistent with good stewardship of these lands, water and facilities that leaves them unimpaired for future generations.”
The primary purpose of the Physical Resource Manager is to provide centralized program administration and management of varying built resources through operational and logistical support to staff in the areas of park facility maintenance and construction projects, equipment and fleet management, occupational safety, asset tracking, inventories, and regulatory compliance to achieve the highest quality of standards within the available resources. Through tracking, planning, and analyzing the Physical Resource Manager will provide information vital to making responsible decisions that protect the Commonwealth’s Virginia State Parks.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist park staff in review of project scope, specifications, and project documents for park managed projects.
Assist park staff in evaluating repair needs for facilities, infrastructure, and equipment to determine the appropriate course of action.
Develop and maintain current inventory of all facilities and park infrastructure to include condition assessments within an asset management system.
Complete and update assessments of facilities, equipment, and vehicles on a scheduled basis.
Assist in the annual budgeting progress by creating budgetary forecast for facility projects, equipment, and vehicles based on condition assessments.
Coordinates project designs and works closely with interagency divisions and other state agencies such as but not limited to: VDH, DEQ, VMRC, DEB, DOLI, DHR.
Works closely with Design and Construction section to ensure work meets quality expectations for the park.
Work with the parks maintenance working group to develop cyclical/preventative maintenance best practices, training, and implementation plans.
