Job Description:
Sand Hollow is a Park Manager III park located in the sunny red rock country of Utah. This is one of the few parks that truly have year round recreation. The winter seasons are more mild with little to no snow. This park provides a variety of opportunities varying from water sports to the sands of sand mountain. People from all over the world are seeking an opportunity to live in this beautiful country. This is your chance to work in this environment as well as calling it home.

Principle Duties:

Manages the law enforcement activities and staffing. This would include recruitment, training, scheduling and other responsibilities.
Manages the Sand Hollow State Park resources and needs. This includes facilities, grounds, roads, campgrounds, day use areas and other infrastructure.
Manage trails, rental programs, concessions and special Uses.
Manages other full time and seasonal employees. This would include recruitment, training, scheduling, and other responsibilities.
Manages the budget for the park. (This includes revenue and expenditure.)
Works with all external partners of the park and the other parks in the vicinity. ((federal, county, city and state ) Political groups, Law Enforcement, tourism, land managers, business owners and others.)
Manages concession contracts, special use permits and events.
Developing programs, planning events and managing cooperative agreements

The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will possess:

Preference given to applicants with a Bachelor's or higher degree in Parks and Recreation Management or a closely related degree, or at least 4 years of professional experience in Park Management at a State, Federal or comparable park.
experience working with budgets.
experience managing people .
experience working with various outside partners.
writing and computer skills.
ability to adapt to different circumstances and conditions

Typical Qualifications

Preference given to applicants with a Bachelor's or higher degree in Parks and Recreation Management or a closely related degree, or at least 4 years of professional experience in Park Management at a State, Federal or comparable park.
The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

Must have previous experience working in Utah State Parks.
Must have experience working with budgets.
Must have experience working as a supervisor.
Must have knowledge of the reservations system

Ability and experience delegating

Supplemental Information

Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g. working in extreme outdoor weather conditions, working in remote wilderness areas and/or boating/OHV areas, etc.
If you are currently POST certified, you must be certified through the Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) Academy in Utah.
Work may require some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking over rough terrain or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities.
This position must live within a reasonable distance to the park so they can respond to and handle a critical incident if it comes up.
