Job Opportunities: Regional Managers (2 positions), Washington State Parks

Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is recruiting to fill two (2) full-time, permanent Region Managers (WMS Band 2).  One vacancy is for our Northwest region parks located out of Parks headquarters' in Tumwater, WA and the other vacancy is for our Eastern region parks with the duty station at our Eastern office in East Wenatchee, WA. 
The annual range of compensation is between $83,724 - $111,276 depending upon qualifications, although the expected hiring salary will typically be less than the top of the range, to allow for growth and development movement.

Washington State Parks has seven Region Managers statewide that report to the Deputy Assistant Director of Operations. The Region Manager position requires thorough understanding of the agency and the ability to carry out diverse responsibilities and develop and implement strategic plans for policy change, public service delivery, and administrative procedures. The job requires constant attention to managerial judgment and decision making.

The NW position supervises the Managers for the following park areas:

  • Salish Foothills (Camano Island, Cama Beach, Rasar, Rockport, Bayview and others)
  • Cascade Foothills (Lake Sammamish, Saint Edward, Bridle Trails, Wallace Falls, Ollallie and others)
  • Tahoma Gateway (Dash Point, Saltwater, Flaming Geyser, Kanaskat-Palmer, Nolte, Federation Forest and others)
  • Millersylvania (Millersylvania, Rainbow Falls, Tolmie, Nisqually and others)

The Eastern position supervises the Managers for the following park areas:

  • Wenatchee Valley (Wenatchee Confluence, Lincoln Rock, Daroga and others)
  • Okanogan Highlands (Pearrygin Lake, Conconully, Curlew, and others)
  • Central Lakes (Alta Lake, Lake Chelan, Bridgeport, and others)
  • Lake Wenatchee State Park

Specific areas of focus:
Collaborates with other Region Managers and the Deputy Assistant Director to develop and submit policy requests to Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission for authority to establish new programs, facilities, and services related to outdoor recreation, including activities pertaining to natural or cultural resource protection, education, and appreciation, as well as agreements and services needed to accomplish them.
