NASPD 2025 National Conference will be held at Canaan Valley Resort State Park, West Virginia. Tucked away in the upper reaches of the Allegheny Mountains, Canaan Valley Resort is just a 20-minute drive from another jewel of the West Virginia State Park system, Blackwater Falls State Park. Between these two mountain getaways, the quaint mountain towns of Davis and Thomas contain an eclectic assortment of shops, restaurants, outdoor excursions and adventures. Both parks feature a lodge and cabins for overnight accommodations. We will provide daily shuttle vans for those requiring transportation from Blackwater Lodge to Canaan Lodge. Those who drive to the conference will have the freedom to enjoy the scenic country roads at their leisure between conference events.

Blackwater Falls State Park
Blackwater Falls State Park is named for the amber waters of Blackwater Falls, a 57-foot cascade tinted by the tannic acid of fallen hemlock and red spruce needles. The falls, along with a few of the park’s other features like Elakala Falls, Lindy Point and Pendleton Point Overlook are some of the state’s most photographed spots. Visitors can enjoy the scenic views year-round by taking the steps to the falls or using viewing platforms. For those seeking a traditional state park overnight experience, Blackwater Falls has a 54-room lodge and 39 cabins available to reserve for conference attendees. A morning and evening bus shuttle service will be available between the Canaan Valley and Blackwater Falls lodges during the conference. West Virginia is famous for her country roads, there's no doubt about it! However, airline service and scenic highland views are seldom found alongside one another. The closest large airports to Canaan Valley (Dulles, Pittsburgh, Yeager) are all about a three hour drive to the resort. For those who are flying in to the Mountain State, we will be offering a shuttle from Yeager International Airport (CRW) in Charleston, WV to Canaan Valley Resort State Park.
